Privacy Policy Counting Owl (EN)

Version 2 - October 2017

Counting Owl respects the privacy of all their users. That's why we use as little as possible user information within the app. The following points are set up to show which data is used for what elements:

Adding accounts to your 'Home'

If you want to add a account to your Counting Owl 'home', you first need to search the account with the search option or login and click on the account. This varies per platform:

Twitter

If you want to track and search for Twitter accounts you will need to log-in to give the app access to the following data for your own account and accounts you searched for:

By default the app will load the list of all the people you follow and show them in the search results section. Your own account will be displayed as the first account. This lets you find and add important and relevant people even faster.

Instagram

If you want to add your own Instagram Business accounts to Counting Owl you will need to login with your personal Facebook account. The app will show all the Instagram accounts which are connected to the Facebook Pages you are an admin or editor on. We will load the following data from your Instagram accounts.

To make sure all the log-in data is secure we use the authorization functions from Twitter and Instagram. Counting Owl does not collect any log-in credentials, those will stay within the database of Facebook and Twitter.

YouTube and Twitch

There is no need to log-in to YouTube and Twitch if you want to find YouTube or Twitch channels, it just works. The reason for this is the difference in open content from YouTube and Twitch vs Twitter or Instagram.

Setting a target

If you set a target for a account, the data will be saved on our server, together with the link to the account and the identification code for the notifications. In this way we can send a notification to your device if the target for that account is reached. We cannot track this information back to your device in any way.

Goal notifications

The list with people you follow on your 'Home' is saved locally on your own device. If you have turned notifications on for a account, a link to this account, together with the identification code for the notification will be saved on our server. We need this information to send you a notification if the app is not directly opened.

Google Firebase Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to test different parts of our app. This data is used to create insights which could improve the user experience for future versions of the Counting Owl app. On Android, this data is connected to the Android Advertising ID and on iOS it is connected to the Advertising Identifier..

If you want to turn it off on iOS you can find it in Settings > Privacy > Advertising. Then turn on Limit Ad Tracking. On Android you can turn it off by going to Ads Settings. Then click or tap on the slider next to "Ads Personalization" and then TURN OFF.

But as we mentioned before, we only use the data to improve the user experience of the Counting Owl app. But we respect your choice.

Newsletter

We got a newsletter which you can sign up for. This is newsletter is the general newsletter with general information about the app. The email addresses are not sold to any advertisers. We could include sponsored content in the emails with a reference to companies we work with. We will always try to place the ads in a nice and positive way. You can unsubscribe from our mailing list(s) via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of all our mailings or by sending a email to business@countingowl.com.
